Cyber News 🚨🔥

Fortinet confirms a breach that caused 440GB of customer data to be leaked on BreachForumes.

Fortinet, the world's third largest cyber security company, says that this breach only affects less than 0.3% of Fortinet's customers, saying:

“An individual gained unauthorized access to a limited number of files stored on Fortinet’s instance of a third-party cloud-based shared file drive, which included limited data related to a small number (less than 0.3%) of Fortinet customers,”

When the threat actor, called "Fortibitch", tried to extort the company, the company allegedly said that they would rather "eat poop than pay a ransom."

And after this unsuccessful extortion attempt the threat actor released the data.

It is also important to note that Fortinet stated that they did not see any malicious activity around the data.

Stating: "Fortinet immediately executed on a plan to protect customers and communicated directly with customers as appropriate and supported their risk mitigation plans."

And also they stated that the incident is not related to ransomware or malware in general:

"The incident did not involve any data encryption, deployment of ransomware, or access to Fortinet’s corporate network."
